The temple is constructed mainly with marble and red sandstone.

The Design and Architecture

Akshardham temple is built according to Vastu Shastra injunctions and not a single rod of steel is used during construction. The divine place is made with 6000 tones of stones and 108 feet. The prime shrine comprises a 1.2 ton gold plated statue of Lord Swaminarayan. The 7 foot high statue is structured in sitting position; with his right hand lifted up in abhay mudra is the major attraction of the temple.
