Art of living is an organizational activity which is made for the people’s welfare not for profit. It’s a volunteer-based, humanitarian and educational non-governmental organization (NGO) that is engaged in stress management activities. The foundation was founded in 1981 by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar that also worked in more than 151 countries except India. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar guided this organizational activity with the philosophy of peace: “Unless we have a stress-free mind and a violence-free society, we cannot achieve world Peace.”
The motive behind these organizational programs is to help people overcome from stress and to achieve peace of mind. Art of living tend to offer some impressive stress-eliminating programs that comprise Yoga, Meditation and breathing techniques. Such programs are successfully helping millions of people around the world to triumph over stress, depression and violent tendencies.
Art of living has rolled over various humanitarian projects and has spread peace across communities. Some of its known projects include-
1-Disaster Relief : Art of living foundation along with its sister organizations, (IAHV) The International Association for Human Values and Vyakti Vikas Kendra India (VVKI). They work on disaster relief offering food and shelter. Some of its Stress relieving workshops also aims to alleviate victims from traumatic effect.
2- Environment care : The respective organization is involved in large scale tree plantations through Mission Green Earth, water conservation, chemical free farming and cleaning rivers.
3- Peace : Art of living is working incredibly to establish with the help of its different type of programs, multicultural events by promoting human values with strong believe that we all are humans first.
4 - Women Empowerment : Program for empowering women.
5- Education : Sister concern of Art of Living - Ved Vignan Maha Vidhya Peeth (VVMVP) is running about 175 free schools for poor children. To support the poor children, most of the schools provide offer free food, conveyance, cloths, books and education.
6- Prison Program : These programs works to show the right direction to prisoners by carrying out special courses results into spiritual and moral upliftment.
7 - Youth leadership Training Program : These programs aim to empower youths to take more responsibilities and to make positive environment around them. This program has trained 110,000 youths.
8- Rural Development : It’s a 5H program of Art of living that has reached 40,212 villages. A 5h program stands for the homeless, Healthcare, Hygiene, Human Values and Harmony in diversity. The 5h programs works to offer healthy livings to the poor villagers are untouched with the modern amenities due to their poverty conditions and offer them homes, toilets, conducting free courses and Satsang for free
